Forward From Here is a place for reflection, growth, recovery, and figuring out what comes next.
I started this site because I’ve spent enough time looking backward to know that the past can teach us a lot, but it can also become a place we get stuck. There are things I’m proud of, things I regret, lessons I learned the hard way, and parts of my life I’m still trying to understand. Writing gives me a way to sort through all of it.
A lot of what I share here comes from readings, quotes, experiences, and ideas that make me stop and think. Sometimes they’re about recovery. Sometimes they’re about relationships, mistakes, responsibility, second chances, or simply becoming a better version of myself. The point isn’t to pretend I have everything figured out. I definitely don’t.
It’s more about paying attention.
I’ve learned that change usually isn’t one huge moment where everything suddenly makes sense. Most of the time, it happens quietly through small decisions. Owning something I did wrong. Handling a situation differently than I would have before. Showing up when it would be easier to disappear. Helping someone else. Letting go of something I can’t change.
Those moments add up.
That’s really what Forward From Here means to me. I can’t rewrite where I’ve been, but I still have a say in where I go from here.
Some reflections will be serious. Others may be hopeful, uncomfortable, unfinished, or even contradictory. That feels more honest to me. Growth isn’t always a straight line, and I don’t want this site to pretend otherwise.
If something I write helps another person look at their own life differently, feel a little less alone, or realize that their next chapter doesn’t have to look like the last one, then sharing it was worth it.
This isn’t a site about having all the answers.
It’s about continuing to ask better questions, learning from what’s behind me, and keeping my attention on what’s ahead.
Still becoming. Still learning. Still moving forward.
